Myths and Mayhem art exhibition

This past Friday evening I had the pleasure of attending the opening of “Myths and Mayhem”
an exhibition featuring the art of local photographer Miss Phitts and lowbrow artist M.F. Deshonga.

In her own words, Miss Phitts just “…shoots people! I’m just a Creepy Creepo. Horror. Goth. Classic Portraits. Nature. Boudoir.”
Miss Phitts is also quite modest, as she doesn’t “just” anything. Her work is filled with passion and a lot of blood, sweat and tears and that’s just on her models.

“M.F. Deshonga is a Jacksonville based lowbrow artist. He has been creating art from the moment he could first hold a crayon. He strives for originality in his work, with an emphasis on the creative aspect. His artwork is an extension of his sense of humor and unique world view. Common themes in his work deal with contradictory elements. These absurdist themes are meant to be playfully tongue-in-cheek, challenging the viewer to see humor where one normally would not.”

This is the first public collaboration of the pair though they have been privately collaborating for over a year.
Their respective mediums and styles compliment each other well.
Their work is as raw, fresh and beautiful as young love and you owe it to yourself to see it.

“Myths and Mayhem” will grace the walls of The Silver Cow in historic Riverside throughout the month of January.
