Don’t throw away your Christmas tree, donate it!
“Our big cats love to play with Christmas trees! Just like some house cats, big cats love the smell of pine and the feel of the pine needles on their fur. As part of our Enrichment Program each year, we place donated Christmas trees inside the animal’s enclosures for them to share in the holiday festivities! They enjoy rubbing against them, chewing on the bristles, proudly carrying them around, taking them for a swim and of course, spraying them!”
To donate your tree after the holidays, please call us at 904-757-3603 or email Jordan@cattyshack.com to arrange a drop off or pick up. (Please note that we are unable to accept artificial trees or trees with tinsel or lights.)
The Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary has dedicated itself to the rescue and care of big cats. They provide sanctuary to big cats confiscated by the state for illegal ownership, abuse and other forms of maltreatment. The Ranch also runs an endangered species breeding program. Their mission statement reads;
“The mission of Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary is to provide a safe environment to many of the great cat species that are endangered or threatened due to loss of natural habitat. Our primary focus is in the rescue of cats from serious situations. Once an animal is taken in at Catty Shack, they have a home for life.
