The tradition carries on into 2018, as the Westside and Eastside (of the Springfield Historic District) battle it out on the baseball field for bragging rights, complete with turn-of-the-century old school uniforms, equipment, umpires, announcer, food trucks and fanfare. All are welcome! This unique, family friendly event is sponsored by VyStar Credit Union.
Hosted by Springfield Preservation and Revitalization (SPAR) at Klutho Park
Picnics & tailgating encouraged. Game begins @ 4pm, but get there early for a good seat. Free.
Schedule of events:
2pm – Pre-Party at Hyperion Brewing Company. Bring your own decorated bike, wagon or golf cart and join the official parade. Register your decorated vessel at Hyperion from 12pm-2:30pm for your chance to win fun prizes and a chance for best decorated bike! Partnered with SKIDS on 8th St. Official Judging at 2:45pm.
3pm – Bike Parade to Klutho Park
4pm – Flag ceremony with the Boy Scouts and the National Anthem performed by Sean Clancy of the Junco Royals
4:20pm – Kids are invited to run the bases before the game begins
7:30pm – After-Party at Main & Six Brewing Company, including presentation of the trophy to the winning team.
Twisted Okie, Social Grounds Coffee, and Icecapade Frozen Treats will be in the park during the game.
