July 4th Fireworks

Join the City of Jacksonville as we celebrate the nation’s independence with the annual 4th of July Fireworks Celebration. The spectacular fireworks display over the downtown riverfront and will begin at 9:45 p.m.

Fireworks over the St. Johns River – 9:45 p.m.

This year fireworks will be launched from a barge on the St. Johns River betweenthe Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront and DoubleTree by Hilton Jacksonville Riverfront hotels and high above the St. Johns River from the Acosta Bridge. These locations are able to be viewed from both the North and South banks in Downtown Jacksonville in addition to viewing from Brooklyn and under the Fuller Warren Bridge where the Riverside Arts Market is held.

Official audio will be featured at Friendship Fountain Park and beneath the Fuller Warren Bridge at the Riverside Arts Market. The fireworks can also be viewed on WJXT Channel 4.

Road Closures

The eastern most northbound lane on the Acosta Bridge will close at noon on July 4, 2018. The Acosta Bridge will fully close at 9:15 p.m. and reopen by 11 p.m. At no time will the Main Street, Fuller Warren or any other downtown bridges be closed for the fireworks display.

JTA Skyway

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) is pleased to provide Skyway service on Tuesday, July 4 from 5 p.m. to midnight for the annual Independence Day Celebrations on the St. Johns River.

Complimentary parking will be available in the JTA’s Johnson Street surface lot.  The lot is bordered by Forsyth, Stuart and Houston streets. Paid parking is also available at the Kings Avenue Garage (credit card payment only).

Skyway Schedule (July 2-6):

Monday, July 2              6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Tuesday, July 3             6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Wednesday, July 4        5 p.m. to 12 a.m. (Extended Hours)*

Thursday, July 5            6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Friday, July 6                 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

*Skyway service over the Acosta Bridge will be suspended during the Fireworks show. Service will resume across the Acosta Bridge when the fireworks are complete and the track has been cleared of any possible debris.

Note: Due to construction, the Convention Center Skyway Stations remains closed.  Skyway trains will continue to provide service to the following stations: Rosa Parks, Hemming Park, Central, Jefferson, San Marco, Riverplace, and Kings Avenue.

On Wednesday, July 4, JTA buses will operate on a Sunday schedule. JTA administrative offices and the customer contact center will be closed. The ticket booth at Rosa Parks Transit Station will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Boat Docking and Anchoring

Docking on the Northbank and Southbank and at the Metropolitan Park Marina is first-come, first-served in areas not marked as closed.

  • Docking is allowed for a maximum of 72 hours.
  • No anchoring between the Main and Acosta Bridge.
  • No anchoring west of the School Board Building to the Main Street Bridge.
  • No open flames or open flame grills allowed on boats at or on city dock.
  • No swimming in the marina or around the city docks.
