JEA will start cutting power as freeze on disconnections expires

JEA’s grace period is over for customers who were behind on their utility bills. Starting today, the city-owned utility will be cutting power to thousands of customers, starting with those whose debt dates back the furthest. A JEA spokesperson told News4Jax that 3,948 customers were facing disconnection this week. The utility started the grace period in July to help those struggling with payments deal with extreme heat.
