Yellow House hosts TakeEmDownJax event

Yellow House stands with the work of Take Em Down Everywhere and Take ‘Em Down Jax as we call for the removal of monuments to white supremacy. Tonight we will be hosting an educational opportunity for the community to be a part of ‘Changing the Southern Narrative’. Join us from 6-8pm at Yellow House to learn, to share, to be curious, and to find ways to engage in this effort.

Speakers and conversation facilitators include:
Rev. Ron Rawls, St. Paul AME Church in St. Augustine

Hazel Gillis, President of the James Weldon Johnson Branch of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASAALH)

Melanie Patz, Co-Chair of the Jacksonville Community Remembrance Project

Come be a part of the conversation where we will address questions around the need to remove confederate monuments, the relationship of this national movement to anti-racism work, and the need to directly address our collective history of white supremacy and the current rise in white nationalism.

We are grateful to all who are engaged in this movement and humbled to host this first of several community dialogues sponsored by TakeEmDownJax.
