JPL highlights Mr. Joe on Library Workers Day

It is Library Workers Day today and we would like to highlight Jacksonville native Joseph Gaskin, aka Mr. Joe.
Mr. Joe has an extended history with our libraries. He would visit the Willow Branch Children’s Library as a kid and he now is the Children’s Librarian at Willow Branch where he hosts “Hello, Mr. Joe!” a children’s story time each week.

When the libraries were shut down during COVID-19, Mr. Joe got creative and began hosting his story times virtually on YouTube.

He believes that the library is much more than books, it is a place to connect and keeps people coming back from the time they are kids to the time they are adults.

He is pursuing his Masters of Science in Information at Florida State University. He received the 2020 American Library Association (ALA) Spectrum Scholarship to cover his full tuition!
Our community is so fortunate to have Mr. Joe, his excitement and love for libraries. Cheers to you, Mr. Joe! Thanks for all you do.
