JFRD helps battle wildfires in the Florida Panhandle

Sixteen Jacksonville Fire and Rescue personnel are among those from around the state who are helping battle three fast-moving wildfires in the Florida Panhandle’s Panama City area. Together, the fires had burned more than 10,000 acres as of last night, and more than 1,100 homes and a nursing home had been evacuated. Fire is burning the same area where the eye wall of Hurricane Michael came ashore in 2018, leaving heaps of downed trees that are fueling today’s fires.
