Hurricane scams

FEMA warns survivors to watch out for scams during the cleanup process. Among the tips to avoid being victimized: Don’t believe anyone who promises a disaster grant in return for payment, don’t give banking information to a person claiming to be a FEMA housing inspector (government inspectors are never authorized to collect someone’s personal financial info), and ask anyone claiming to be from FEMA to show their badge and photo ID. Call the local police or sheriff’s office if you think you’re being scammed.
