For newbies to First Friday’s in Five Points who may be asking what’s a Molotov Cocktail Party?
Molotov Cocktail*. n. an elementary incendiary weapon, usually a bottle of petrol with a short-delay fuse or wick.
Party. n. a social gathering for pleasure, often held as a celebration.
Combine the two and you end up with either no hands or the hottest show this side of the Mason-Dixon line. And for Florida, that’s saying something. Those of the Molotov Cocktail Party persuasion are dedicated to the swift kick in the ass of entertainment. Vis-à-vis the sweaty, heartfelt art of fire performance.
Originally known as the fire troupe Orphans Ablaze, they’ve been accumulating the skills, thrills, and overall insanity involved in the art for several years. Their main stage is in front of Five Points Coffee and Spice, where they set the night on fire every First Friday of the month.
The show is free, fun, and open to the public, go on down, grab a coffee, grab a beer, grab whatever you can in support of local business and join the party for a little bit of danger and a lot of fun.
Note: please enjoy Molotov Cocktail Party responsibly, they are trained professionals and ask that you do not attempt to try anything you see at home. Please, no molesting of the crew and please stay out of the street while the performance is going on.
It’s a good idea to stay out of the street before and after the performance as well.
