Bab’s Lab presents David Girard’s The Other Side

David Girard first arrived on the North Florida scene as a spoken word artist in 1999. His poems were  about the Every man and gave voice to those without.
He has appeared in a multitude of North Florida productions, including;  “Fences” by August Wilson, “Top Dog / Underdog” by Suzan Lori Parks as well as in “Passing Strange” by Stew and Full Monty, where his musicality shined brightly.

David co-wrote and starred in “Griot: He Who Speaks the Sweet Word” with Al Letson, Larry Knight bringing it with director Colaciello to the 2006 NYC International Fringe Festival where it received rave reviews. David is one of the original members of Awkward Silence Jax, a comedy troupe that focuses on sketch comedy.

In “The Other Side” David weaves  a tale of family; grandmothers and mothers, fathers and sons, wives and children together. He shares from a world that he once inhabited. It’s the story of identity embedded in the fabric of family, society and our social construct. Poetry, storytelling, generational wisdom, love and comedy are mixed well and delivered fresh in “The Other Side”.
