Jax Examiner published an article last week titled Sleiman Enterprises has Perfect Rack Billiards behind the eight ball.
In that story we revealed that Perfect Rack Billiards, 1186 Edgewood Ave. S would be forced to stop serving food last Sunday, after Sleiman Enterprises put up a fence blocking access to their dumpster, to their grease holding tank, and any access to the rear area of their building, effectively killing the restaurant. The owners planned to continue running the establishment as a pool hall. That plan was derailed after a surprise inspection by the Fire Marshall who ordered the business to cease and desist. The business is now closed until further notice.
It seems that when Sleiman Enterprises put up their very unneighborly fence, not only did they cut off access to Perfect Rack’s dumpster, they also blocked the businesses second exit, it’s emergency exit encase of fire. Without that exit, currently blocked by Sleiman Enterprises’s fence, the business can not legally operate.
And they are not alone. Jax Examiner has confirmed that Buchner’s Bierhalle, Blackhat Vapor, and Beautifully Divine DIY Woodcraft Studio & Custom Gift Boutique were also ordered closed, again, as a direct result of Sleiman Enterprises’s fence.
Word on the streets of Murray Hill, as well as on social media, is that Sleiman Enterprises may be trying to force the businesses closures in order to purchase more property in Murray Hill.
Jax Examiner previously confirmed, via a former Sleiman Enterprises employee, that the company did have designs on Perfect Rack’s building. However, this is the first we have heard that Sleiman Enterprises could be interested in taking over additional Murray Hill buildings.
We have reached out to Sleiman Enterprises to get their side of the story with the only comment from them being “no comment”.
The City of Jacksonville responded to or request for comment with;
“This is a private matter and while we want to see all businesses thrive, they must be up to code for the safety of all patrons and customers. In this case, a secondary form of exit/egress is required to comply with code.“
This is a developing story, updates will be posted as they become available.
