UPS workers are preparing for a possible strike next month if the company and workers’ union can’t agree on a new contract by the end of July. After negotiations stalled last week, local workers gathered outside of the UPS center on Jacksonville’s Westside yesterday to chant and wave signs that said “just practicing for a just contract” during what they called a “practice picket.” If a deal isn’t reached by August 1st, 340,000 UPS employees nationwide will strike, potentially majorly disrupting the supply chain for customers and businesses.
