The Memory Lab at Jacksonville Public Library

Do you have boxes of old photographs in storage? Home movies on VHS? Mixed tapes on cassette or favorite records? Have you ever wanted to convert them to an easily stored and sharable digital format? When Richard T. Marchionda heard that Jacksonville Public Library was getting a Memory Lab, he asked the librarians in the Special Collections Department when he could start bringing in reels of 16mm film to digitize. For Richard’s full story, visit https://jaxpubliclibrary.org/blog/mem…
And join JPL on September 7, 2022, 6-8 p.m. (during Art Walk) for live demos and a tour of the space. The Memory Lab is located on the fourth floor of the Main Library. You can reserve one of the do-it-yourself digitization stations or schedule an appointment with library staff (if you need help) by calling (904) 255-6195. The Memory Lab will be open starting September 8 during regular library hours 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Visit jaxlibrary.org/memory for more information. Preserve your priceless memories: Scan photos, slides, negatives, and important documents. Transfer home movies on VHS, VHS-C, 8mm, 16mm, or Super 8. Or convert your old cassette tapes, vinyl records and reel-to-reel audio into a portable, digital archive that you can listen to anywhere. It’s all FREE. All you need is a library card (and a way to save your files such as a flash drive, memory card, or a Google Photos account). The Memory Lab was funded under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Florida’s LSTA program is administered by the Department of State’s Division of Library and Information Services.
