More than 100 Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department firefighters have been battling a 3-alarm fire at the unfinished Rise Doro apartments in the Sports Complex since early this morning.
Due to ongoing operations, the following roads will be closed until further notice:
Duval St E (Georgia St. to Palmetto St.)
Adams St. (APR to Layfette St.)
APR (Duval St to Bay St)
Gatorbowl Blvd. (Layfette to Georgia St)
These closures include sidewalks as well. Please help keep our responders safe and avoid the area.
UPDATE
City engineers have determined that it is no longer structurally sound.
Evidently the sprinkler system was not activated because it was pending a final pressure check during the fire inspection that was supposed to happen this week.
Intuition Ale Works, Manifest Distilling, and the offices across A. Phillip Randolph are in the collapse zone and will be unable to open until we have completed the demolition of the wood frame portion of the Doro building.
