Under the bipartisan CARES Act, Congress authorized the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) – a $350 billion program to provide cash-flow assistance to small businesses suffering significant economic injury as a result of COVID-19. The program provides 100% federally-guaranteed, forgivable loans to employers who keep their workers on payroll during this emergency.
Starting TODAY, April 3rd, small businesses and sole proprietorships seeking to enroll in PPP can apply through existing Small Business Administration (SBA) lenders.
Starting next Friday, April 10th, independent contractors and self-employed individuals can apply for and receive loans to cover their payroll and other certain expenses through existing SBA lenders.
