Faster response times and lower insurance rates are on the way for many Arlington residents and businesses as the City and the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department cut the ribbon on new Fire Station 65 today. Located near Arlington Road and Atlantic Avenue, this area is one of the busiest for emergency calls in our City.
“I say this every time, but it continues to ring true: we have the best Fire Department in the business,” said City of Jacksonville Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Dr. Charles Moreland. “I have seen firsthand the leadership and dedication of Chief Powers and the sacrifice and commitment of every man and woman who wears that uniform.”
JFRD Station 65 is dedicated to the memory of Firefighter Wayne Doolittle. Following 32 years of active duty and volunteering, Wayne, “left the JFRD better than how he found it,” according to Chief Keith Powers.
