Myth Nightclub and Element Bistro and Bar, a new venture inside Club TSI’s former space at 333 E. Bay Street, is poised for a May 13 opening.
Owner Jon Mroz, a DJ and longtime fixture in Jacksonville’s music scene, said the pieces are coming together for Myth and Element. The buildout, construction and renovation has taken about seven months from start to finish.
The new business is a split concept, with the front of the building serving as Element Bistro and Bar, a restaurant that will serve lunch, craft cocktails and bar food with a healthy twist. The back portion of the building – which can be entered through a speakeasy-themed moving bookcase – is a club with a stage and giant sound system.
The back terrace, which also connects to the front of the building through a tunnel lined with LED lights, also has a stage for smaller acts and an outside bar.
Mroz has a background in music and booking, so there will be aspects of a live music venue. The idea is for Element to have a more consistent feel, while Myth will have more diverse programming. Planned programming includes Jax EDM on Thursday nights, cover bands on the terrace on Friday nights and indie bands, as well as international DJs, on Saturday nights.
There’s also room for expansion on the horizon in the Bay Street building. The building has a second story with 8500 square feet, which Mroz has plans to start construction on in about six months.
