Lesa Silvermore was in Jax this weekend. The last time the talented singer songwriter from Sarasota graced Jacksonville with her voice was mid July, when she performed at Rain Dogs with fellow Sarasota resident and singer-songwriter, Sam Robertson. That show was the final stop of their The Never Come Back Tour.
The tour followed her May release of her first album, Doppelgänger. Silvermore previously released two EPs but Doppelgänger is her first full studio album. The album is available on Bandcamp and is well worth the $10.
WJCT. brought Silvermore to town this time around. She performed some new tracks, talked about her tour and the future of her music. You can hear it all tonight at 11pm EST at 89.9 on your fm dial or at news.wjct.org.
When the multi talented Miss Silvermore isn’t singing or writing, or modeling, or acting, or editing film she runs one of Sarasota’s finest open mics at Growler’s Pub. Music starts at 9 pm and on a good night, a good night for anyone in attendance, she’s first up.
Now what’s Sarasota’s Queen of Open Mic to do on a Monday night in Jax? She plays a featured set at Nighthawk’s Late Nite Open Mic with Charlie Shuck, of course.
Miss Silvermore treated the Nighthawk’s crowd to Just My Luck, Grim and a cover of Zombie by the The Cranberries.
She told the audience she had copies of her Doppelgänger album for sale but would give them away in exchange for a cool story.
If you have the good fortune to see her and the offer still stands, tell her a story about a girl who started out writing stories and poetry, and then song lyrics. A girl who picked up a Martin Guitar and started singing those stories. A girl who became a woman with a talent that will carry her far.
