Jacksonville University, along with Mayor Lenny Curry and the City have just announced plans to establish the first new law school in the State of Florida in more than 20 years.
With private funding and a $5 million dollar commitment of public investment from the City, the Jacksonville University College of Law will begin classes in the VyStar Credit Union tower downtown in the fall of 2022.
“JU saw this need and potential in Jacksonville and has taken the steps to meet it,” said Mayor Curry during the announcement Monday afternoon. “This College of Law, located in the heart of downtown, will source our local agencies, partners, and firms with generations of quality lawyers and will be a vital resource for professionals looking to make the next step in their career. No longer will students and professionals be forced to choose between Jacksonville and their education.”
JU is now accepting applications to the College of Law, which will offer a Juris Doctor (J.D.) through a three-year curriculum that is designed to prepare graduates for the Florida Bar exam. A virtual information session in planned for March 24th at 6pm for those interested. Go to https://www.ju.edu/law/ for more information.
