- Middleburg’s 9/11 prayer service: St. Luke Catholic Church at 1606 Blanding Blvd. Middleburg, FL 32068. Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Jax Airport’s moment of silence: JAX airport, Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 8:46 a.m.
- UNF’s 9/11 Market Day: Student Union Osprey Plaza, Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- 9/11 Peace Concert: St. John’s Cathedral at 256 East Church Street Jacksonville, FL 32202 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Engine 15 9/11 Memorial Ride: Engine 15, 1500 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville Beach 32250 to MicklersLanding Beach and back to Engine 15. Begins Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 5:30 p.m.
- Mission BBQ free food for first responders: All locations Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 11a.m. to 9 p.m.
- K9s for Warrior holds remembrance service: Camp K9 at 114 Camp K9 Rd. Ponte Vedra, FL 32081 Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 8:40a.m. to 9 a.m.
- The Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) will host the Jacksonville 9/11 Heroes Run 5K race at 6:30 p.m., on Wednesday, Sept. 18th at the Seawalk Pavilion.
Flags at half-staff
Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a proclamation directing the flags of the United States and the State of Florida to be flown at half-staff at all local and state buildings, installations and grounds throughout Florida from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday. “On Sept. 11, we come together to remember the innocent lives lost in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001,” DeSantis said, adding that he signed the proclamation “to honor those we lost and also to thank our military, law enforcement officers, firefighters, first responders, and other emergency personnel, who showed true heroism.”
Jacksonville Sister Cities Association’s Peace Concert
The Jacksonville Sister Cities Association, St. John’s Cathedral, area schools, community musicians, JFRD Color Guard, OneJax at the University of North Florida and more groups will join together in presenting this year’s annual Peace Concert.The public is invited to attend and commemorate the events of 9/11 “as we reaffirm our hope for world peace and celebrate universal humanity.”Supported globally by Sister Cities International, the event coincides with more than 2,000 musical concerts held worldwide each year on Sept. 11. The concert is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Cathedral at 256 East Church St. in Downtown Jacksonville.JSCA will host a reception after the concert with international light refreshments in Taliaferro Hall.
