The Jacksonville Icemen and Community First Credit Union of Florida didn’t do a groundbreaking, they did a wall-breaking to officially start renovations for the Community First Icemen Igloo this morning.
The former Jacksonville Ice & Sportsplex off of Emerson and I-95 will now feature two new NHL/ECHL regulation size rinks, a restaurant and bar, Icemen pro shop, and training facility are expected to be completed next year at this time. Plans are also in the works for an E-sports arena and a Jacksonville Sports Hall of Fame on the site as well.
Mayor Lenny Curry was on hand for the ceremony this morning and said, “This partnership will help support and expand adult and youth hockey programs in our area, making this exciting sport even more accessible to families in our community.”
Congratulations to the Icemen and Community First Credit Union for their partnership and “wall-breaking” for the Igloo!
