Big news from Bee Friends Farm;
We’re buzzing with excitement!! Bee Friends Farm is celebrating National Honey Bee Day with our very own Honey Bee Festival!
Hang out with us on National Honey day at the airconditioned Fairgrounds (near Manifest Distilling and Intuition Ale Works) Shop over 40 local vendors in our Buzy Bee Marketplace, join your child in our Bee a Kid Zone hosted by Honey Bee A Keeper, learn the basics of beekeeping in our Honey Bee Education Annex and taste and buy local Florida honey in the Bee Friends Farm Honey Tasting Bar.
The Buzy Bee Marketplace features over 40 amazing local artisans like Apple Rose Beauty, Congaree and Penn, La Soucique Studio, Pawfection Bakery and Southern Blossom Florals just to name a few! Attendees will be able to do their weekly shopping at Saturiwa Trading Company which stocks carefully selected local products. The mobile market specializes in local dairy, meat, produce and hard to find items like black garlic and alligator.
The Bee a Kid Zone hosted by Honey Bee A Keeper, a local company run by Teacher and Beekeeper Meghan Orman. They specialize in honey bee education for kids. The Bee A Kid Zone features hands-on modules for children to learn about bee biology, how honey is produced and discover more about the environment around them. At other stations, kids can craft art and plant a seed.
The Honey Bee Educational Annex will host engaging, educational speakers with sessions that extend throughout the day. There will be sessions on Backyard Beekeeping hosted by the Jacksonville Beekeepers Association, Mead Making 101 led by Wicked Barley Brewing Company – Jacksonville, FL, Planting for Pollinators led by Eat Your Yard Jax and more. (Seating will be limited, please come prepared to sit next to a new friend or stand.)
This family-friendly festival is free to attend and easy, onsite parking is available for just $5 per car at the Fairgrounds. We encourage fest-goers to keep it green by carpooling!
