High School Poetry Contest

Attention young poets. You are invited to submit a poem to Hope at Hand’s High School Poetry Contest! The contest is for the upcoming Poetry Festival in April to celebrate National Poetry Month. Submissions are due March 9th.

Students may submit ONE poem of no more than 15 lines on any subject and in any style except concrete or black out poems. The content of the poem may not be vulgar, offensive or contain profanity. Poems must be original, individual work of the entrant.

All submissions become the property of Hope at Hand and Jax Poetry Fest and may appear on social media. First name, age, and high school will be shared with the winning poem. Only electronic submissions will be accepted.

Hope at Hand has been providing art and poetry therapy for at-risk youth populations since 2009.
They are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching children and adults to process and document love and life through the use of creative thinking, poetry, reading, writing and art. With the help of our trained professionals, participants will: 

1.Spend time reflecting on life experiences and personal life choices
2.Discuss issue and write reflections in journals
3.Read published poems
4.Create original poems
5.Create original art (painting, collage, sewing) to celebrate their words and thoughts 
6.Be encouraged to sharing their poems with other participants
