A year into its existence, the Florida Wildlife Corridor Foundation says it’s making good progress toward its goal of preserving 8 million new acres of land across the state, including acreage in western Duval and Clay counties. The foundation has purchased 14 land parcels since being created through 2021 legislation incentivizing land preservation. The corridor, which is critical to the survival of 131 endangered or threatened species, consisted of 10 million conserved acres before the legislation was passed. (Florida Politics)
