Recycling
Citizens can recycle all of these items curbside in their yellow-lid recycle cart:

Plastics numbered 1-3, 5 or 7, detergent bottles, cleaning solution bottles, and
plastic food and beverage containers. Labels do not need to be removed.
- Green, brown or clear glass bottles and jars. Please place tops/lids in garbage; labels do not need to be removed.
- Newspapers, sale inserts, magazines, catalogs, paperback books, and telephone books.
- Paper of all kinds including junk mail, craft paper, gift wrapping paper, pamphlets, brochures or paper bags.
- Corrugated cardboard. Boxes are to be flattened and cut in pieces 2′ by 3′ or smaller.
- Metal and aluminum cans, steel food containers and baking tins.
- Paperboard cartons and boxes. This includes cereal, cracker, cookie, milk, juice, soup and all other cartons or boxes, paper towel/bath tissue cores.

Garbage
Help reduce litter and keep our neighborhoods clean by properly disposing or your garbage and waste. Know your disposal days! You can find out the collection days for your trash, recycling and yard waste by typing your address into the MyJax app or using this online tool. Be sure to have your cans out by 6 a.m. the morning of your scheduled collection.
For residents living in areas with the automated garbage collection system, a collection for bulky items that do not fit in the provided 65-gallon or 96-gallon containers will need to be scheduled. Use the MyJax app to schedule collection of bulk items and appliances.
Except in the automated garbage collection service areas, there is no limit to amount of garbage residents can set out on regular garbage collection day. Haulers are required to pick-up waste, or tag waste that is non-compliant. There is no need to make an advanced notification that there are bulky or non-standard size, or non-standard weight items to be set out for collection.

Household Hazardous Waste
Duval County residents are encouraged to drop off their household hazardous waste and e-waste at mobile collection events in order to prevent otherwise recyclable and/or hazardous materials from ending up in the landfill. The mobile collection events are scheduled nine times a year, from November to June, at various locations throughout the city. Residents can also drop off their household hazardous waste and e-waste year-round at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility located at 2675 Commonwealth Ave, Tuesdays through Saturdays, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Examples of e-waste
Televisions (limit three per customer), computer monitors and terminals, keyboards, printers, scanners, stereo equipment, VCRs, camcorders, DVDs, radios, desk or mobile phones, pagers, power tools, small kitchen and health and beauty appliances, etc. E-waste is collected as part of the normal garbage collection service if placed inside cart for curbside collection; however, once these items enter the waste stream with normal garbage they cannot be recycled and are disposed of in the landfill.
Examples of household hazardous waste
Paint (limit 25 gallons per customer), varnish, shellac, paint thinners and strippers, household and car batteries, thermometers, thermostats, drain cleaners, pool chemicals, antifreeze, aerosol cans, fertilizer, pesticides, acids, gun powder, ammunition, fireworks, fluorescent bulbs and tubes, oil and oil filters, gasoline, etc. Household hazardous waste cannot be collected curbside with regular trash.
