Charlie Shuck opened the Punk Rock Show at Rain Dogs, Friday night, The Punk bands included; Forsaken Profit$, Some Kind Of Nightmare, The Wastedist, and SCUM.
Some might find it odd that a poet/singer/songwriter playing acoustic guitar, would open for a night of Punk Rock. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of hearing Charlie sing you’d know his lyrics hit as hard as any Punk anthem. The Punks may use a sledgehammer, Charlie, a scalpel, both can reach the heart.
Charlie Shuck has been a Jacksonville treasure for many years. He is a well loved local secret, one that Jax may soon have to decide whether to lift up and share with the world, or continue to hold him close, keeping his words and voice, only for themselves.
Charlie posted on his facebook, “i haven’t played in a while so I’ll probably be a little rusty and you know you don’t want to miss that mess!”
Rusty, hell! Heart warming, endearing, all the more authentic, yes! Charlie’s lyrics have been lived by him, not bought and paid for like many other’s are. His music will make your heart smile and your soul dance!
Whether Charlie sings his songs or shares his poetry, time with Charlie Shuck is not to be missed.
