:A newly passed ordinance in Atlantic Beach allows police to arrest people for sleeping on the beach or in other public places, but only if shelter is available and the violator refuses it. The City Commission unanimously approved the new ordinance last week as a way to address homelessness while making an arrest the last resort. Atlantic Beach commissioners also agreed to provide $3,000 for organizations to open shelters during cold weather or storms. (News4Jax)
