Cynthia Platt, a neighbor to know

Cynthia  Platt, “Cindy” is the owner of Grease Rags Clothing Co., founder and director of *Rocstart (Rallying for Oral Cancer Support Through ART) a two time cancer survivor, and the Queen of all things retro.

What six of your neighbors had to say about Cindy Platt;

“She  doesn’t just have her finger on the pulse of Jacksonville, she’s the heart of it.”

“She has a  smile that brightens any room, a wonderful sense of style and a heart that knows nothing but to love.”

“I’m not a petite woman and most clothing stores make me feel ugly. When I walk into Cindy’s shop she makes me feel beautiful. And not just her shop; events she’s organized, gatherings or just bumping into each other around town, if Cindy is there, I feel beautiful.”

“She is as smart as she is courageous, when she has an idea, it doesn’t just grow wings and fly; it soars and brings back a new flock of birds to the party. In addition to giving back to the community, her shop accommodates a wide variety of people, and she treats them all like old friends.”

“She  is one of the most truly gifted, multi-talented, honest, hard working, caring, all things vintage loving women I have the honor to know. As a two time cancer survivor, she is an inspiration to us all. I am blessed to have her as a fellow artist, and friend.”

“She’s magical. Everywhere she goes she spreads kindness, love and laughter. If Cindy is there you better believe there will be laughter and smiles and happy hearts.

And the one that started it all;

“She is the kind of neighbor Mr. Rogers would have wanted in his neighborhood.”

*The foundation was created by an oral cancer survivor, Cynthia Platt, who recognized a need for increased awareness of Oral Cancer within her community. Additionally, she found that even when a patient receives the best medical care available, the “little things” often fell by the wayside. The special needs of an Oral Cancer patient are many and are not always immediately identified, met, or covered by insurance. Dental care, xerostomia (dry mouth) products, radiation burn prevention – to name but a few.
Initially funded by donations from friends and family, the foundation is dependent on donations from the public and is a 501c3 non-profit organization as determined by the Internal Revenue Service.
