I was invited to attend Professor Whiskey’s Presents: Tarantino at Eclipse last night. This was not my first viewing of the Professor’s Tarantino themed show. I was present for their performance at The Phoenix Taproom this past March so I knew I was in for a treat.
I was not disappointed. The Professor continues to do what so many other similar Jax groups before them failed to do, which is consistently improve their performance and build upon their success.
Every show brings new laughs, smiles, costumes, and routines.
They listen to their fans of course and will repeat shows or skits to keep their fans happy but they always add a new bit, an unexpected twist and, where appropriate, more glitter. And seriously, where beautiful women are concerned, when is glitter not appropriate?
But it’s more than just the show, it’s the backstage often unseen efforts as well. This show they brought in the captivating the Miss Vita DeVoid from South Florida. They’ve also partnered with Eclipse to provide better seating, better parking and a full bar for their main monthly show.
One show provides their audience; Burlesque, Comedy, Music, spectacular fire performance arts by Molotov Cocktail Party and a host of local artists and craftspeople displaying their efforts, efforts which are always looking for a new home.
There is no better entertainment value in our city than a Professor Whiskey Show. And when you combine Professor Whiskey’s Traveling Bizarre Bazaar with the works of Mr. Quentin Tarantino you end up with a whole lot of fun and glitter on a Saturday night.
I’m not going to give you the play by play, other than to say you should have been there.
What I will say is that you should do your best to catch one of the remaining 2013 shows as 2014 will bring some changes. January the troupe will be off and when they return to the stage in February there will be fewer Jacksonville shows as the Professor will be traveling.
Some of that travel will be on the other side of the river and some will be on the other side of the state. They will still perform for their home town but many of their shows will be away.
We’ve been spoiled for awhile with 2-3 local shows a month if you haven’t yet checked them out, do so, as the line to see them will only grow.
Both Molotov Cocktail Party and Professor Whiskey’s Traveling Bizarre Bazaar are available for private events and parties.
