If you follow Atlantic Blvd until you hit the beach and look south or go via Lemon street and look north you’ll find The Lemon Bar.
The Lemon Bar is nestled in between the courtyard of the Seahorse Oceanfront Inn and the Atlantic Ocean.
It’s one of a handful of places in North Florida where you can legally drink on the beach. They also have decent bar food, better drinks and happy hour prices that will make you forgive a little sand here and there that shouldn’t be here and there.
You’ll find traditional bar food such as chicken fingers and hamburgers as well as a few surprises; Seared Ahi Tuna and fresh Mayport Shrimp just to name a few.
The secret to the chicken fingers is to order them naked and then get the sauce on the side
The Lemon Bar has been serving up beach inspired cocktails for 14 years and are known for their Goombay Smashes and Rum Runners. They also make an above average Orange Cream Dream and a fine Pina Colada.
There’s not another place in town that offers the sand, surf and view as well as $2.50 draft beers, wines and Bacardi rums, Monday – Friday until 8 p.m. and all night on Thursdays.
One of a few drawbacks about the Lemon Bar is they will close up if the weather turns bad. Personally I like to enjoy a drink while Mother Nature is throwing a beatdown on the coast, but that’s me.
Another is their relatively early closing time but you’re at the Beach and there are plenty of other places to take the party, Pete’s Bar is within walking or crawling distance, as the case may be.
