Voters in Duval County approved a property tax increase last year to fund pay raises for teachers, and they are now starting to see the benefit. The extra revenue is supplemental pay for the teachers, which ranges from $5,400 to $7,000, depending on their base pay, and is spread out across their regular paychecks. The district expects to collect about $89 million from the tax increase, some of which will also go to supplemental pay for other school staff and enhanced funding for school arts and athletics programs
