Early voting begins Monday

Voters who want to cast their ballots in person for the Aug. 23rd primaries and special elections can do it starting Monday. Duval County has opened 20 early voting sites in anticipation that this election, which includes countywide voting for sheriff and a referendum on a 1-mill increase in taxes for Duval Schools, will draw a higher-than-usual turnout for a midterm.

A mixture of congressional, state and local positions also are on the ballot, and in some cases the primary will determine the outcome without a need for a general election. Those include races for nonpartisan positions that drew only two candidates, and partisan races with candidates only from one party.

Duval voters, see a sample ballot for your registered address here. Unlike Election Day, when voters must cast their ballots at their precinct, early voting can be done at any of the early voting sites, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Aug. 21st.
