Throwback Baseball Game 2021

The 4th of July Throwback Baseball Game is back for its 12th year. This local tradition is where Historic Springfield’s residents battle it out on the baseball field for bragging rights on whether the Westside or Eastside are the true champions. Come enjoy the day with turn-of-the-century old school uniforms, equipment, umpires, announcer, and competitive fanfare. All are welcome. This is a free event.

Heather Perry will be singing the National Anthem and Damien Lamar, will be singing Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing.
Durkeeville Historical Society will be bringing along memorabilia of the Jacksonville Red Caps, who played out of Durkee Field in the Negro American League from 1938-1942. Durkee Gardens is Jacksonville’s newest Historic District after being added to the National Register in early 2020.

Beer and wine along with Springfield merchandise will be for sale at the SPAR tent.

Nola’s Snoballs Sweets & Savory Eats will be on hand for lunch and dessert.

11am – 3pm, but the early bird gets the good seat.
