Khan’s development firm, Iguana Investments, was named in 2017 to be the master developer of the 70-acre Shipyards property, land that includes Metropolitan Park.
Three years have passed and Khan has failed to produce a plan acceptable to the city.
This afternoon Khan was effectively benched for poor performance, when the Downtown Investment Authority announced it will re-open a competitive selection process to award the development rights of the property.
Khan looked good during the draft but has not contributed much since is what I could imagine DIA’s CEO Lori Boyer, saying. To be clear, she did not say that, but I’m sure there are many former Jaguars who would get a chuckle out of that.
Khan is expected to submit a new proposal when he and the other potential developers report for training camp.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
