Duval County Public Schools will extend spring break until March 22nd. Superintendent Dr. Diane Greene made the announcement Friday afternoon.
There will be no school or academic activity next week, with one exception: SAT testing planned at several high schools tomorrow, and that testing will go on. They are requesting that any student who has flu like symptoms or who has recently traveled out of the country to self-isolate and not participate in this testing. Appropriate cleaning before and after testing will take place in those testing areas.
In addition, they have disinfected and sanitized all schools and school buses and will adapt our daily cleaning procedures to focus on frequently touched surfaces including door handles, desks, and keyboards. All field trips are canceled until further notice. All after-school extracurricular events, including athletic contests, are canceled until further notice. (Practices will be allowed to resume when school resumes).
The school board will be meeting throughout the weekend into next week about free breakfast and lunches as well as other details.
