The Lobster House Restaurant was built on the South bank of the St. Johns River, originally it was a boat repair shop. In 1944 it was converted into The Lobster House Restaurant. It stood on pilings over the St Johns River, between the Main Street and the “Old” Acosta Bridge. Mr and Mrs Glickstein were the owners.
After dinner there was the Skyline Cocktail Lounge for drinks and dancing followed by a trip to the Skyline Deck for the music of Dick Pollock’s Candle Lighters.
In 1955 several scenes for Revenge Of The Creature, the 3-D sequel to The Creature From The Black Lagoon were filmed there. It was destroyed in a fire in 1962
The Diamondhead Restaurant (now the River City Brewing Co.) was built adjacent to the site where the old Lobster House once stood. Friendship Park was built on the vacant land near where the Lobster House stood.
