Jacksonville Historical Society Through the Lens photo contest

The Main Library on Hemming Plaza Wednesday, Feb 7 from 5PM to 8PM.
The Jacksonville Historical Society invites you to the opening reception of their Photo Contest exhibit, “Through the Lens”  and announcement of the winners. The 50 best photos chosen by the judges will be presented  at the opening of the month-long exhibit.

The Grand Prize winner will receive $1,000; Second Place winner – $500; Third Place winner – $300, and two Honorable Mention award winners – $100 each.

Amateur and professional photographers of all ages were invited to enter their four best images celebrating our community. There were over sixty entrants, and over 200 photos were submitted. The photos were judged based on their artistic quality, as well as their ability to creatively capture a slice of life in the Jacksonville community.

The public is invited to this free event on the main floor of the library during Art Walk. Refreshments will be served.

The contest and this exhibition were generously underwritten by a grant from William H. Jeter, Jr. and Deanne M. Clark.
